Rumors from Apple's supply chain claim that a foldable iPad is in "intensive development," and that the company could announce it in late 2024 or early 2025.
Apple has long been reported to be working on a foldable iPad — and it's filed for patents on increasingly evolved designs. It's even repeatedly been said that it is more likely that Apple will make a folding iPad rather than a foldable iPhone.
Now according to Digitimes, its supply chain sources say that Apple is pressing ahead with its folding iPad plans. It claims that at present, the company hopes to begin small-scale production as soon as the end of 2024.
It's not clear how small that small-scale manufacturing is intended to be, but the suggestion is that it is larger than a production test run.
Digitimes concludes that Apple is likely to announce the folding iPad in either late 2024, or early 2025. That does fit with some prior reporting by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Digitimes has a strong track record as it pertains to Apple's supply chain. It has a significantly poorer one for the conclusions it draws about Apple's plans.
